DRIVE GLYCERINE & DESTROY EVERYTHING
SELECTED TRACKS
SHARAREH
Transpacific Lounge Regulars
A hypnotic and sensual track, with a strong Persian influence and a vibe reminiscent of idillic afternoons in an opium den, or a harem. Not that they’ve been to either, but that was the imagery the band sought out when they approached Muhammad Habbibi Guerra to play Santoor for the track.
THE WANTING
The Hours Strange / Électriciennes
One of the earliest songs by The Hours Strange gets a turn for the darker. Working with mixer/producer Matheus Antunes, Charlie stripped the track to its most basic instincts, leaving only the indispensable, sexy soul of a song that – to be true to its genesis – was always about vampires.
DESTROY EVERYTHING YOU TOUCH
Bar St James
One of the best songs of one of the best bands of the nineties gets reimagined as a softer – but not necessarily kinder – version of itself. Charlie rasps the bass like it means business, and Gabriela lays her vocals on top like a soothing balm. Opposites attract and all that. Destroy Everything You Touch betrays its name by building something wonderful.
EAT/KISS RELEASES
SOMETIMES WE DANCE
Although our default mode at Eat/Kiss veers more towards hidden bars with rare whiskies and ridiculously pricey hi-fi’ed turntables, sometimes we also feel the need to party, jump on the proverbial table and break a think or two (hopefully not our backs). Here’s the section where you’ll find the music we’re doing when we hit that stage.
MÉNAGE À TROIS
Javier Penna, 5prite
Ménage Á Trois was written by The Hours Strange after a night of clubbing, so it isn’t perhaps too ironic that the song would end up destined for the dance floor. Javier Penna, 5prite and others remixed this song about a messy love affair. Or just an affair, anyway.
